Works great for our cats. They couldn't quite figure out how to get the food from the edges at first but they got used to it and used it just fine. It helped our one cat to stop overeating and throwing up and helped her eat much slower. Of course, being cats, they think they are being starved when there is no food directly in the middle of the bowl so we have to shake the food from the edges to the middle sometimes but that didnt stop the purpose of the bowl at all. I did have to add some grippy shelf liner underneath because the cats tend to push it around when they think its empty. Otherwise, pretty happy with this purchase
I have a meowing, pleading, overfed adult cat who loves to eat. Though this is not her name, I've nicknamed her Hoover. This dish/plate forces her to eat more slowly and reach satisfaction before her twice a day 1/4 cup feedings are through. I have hope that at her next check up with the vet that we will both get a pat on the back because she's losing weight as the vet advised.
